In my last blog, I introduced the most innovative technological advancement to impact gyros in over thirty years… KronoBROIL® flamed cooked, cone carved authentic gyros slices from Kronos. Pairing these new slices with warm pita bread, tzatziki sauce, onion and tomato will undoubtedly create the perfect gyros sandwich. But today, I would like to share a few creative ideas that will stretch the general interpretation of a gyros sandwich and make your menus extreme!

Try tossing hot KronoBROIL® slices in your favorite smoky barbeque sauce and piling it on warm pita bread. Top it off with shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled smoked bacon pieces and deep fried onion straws to create a “smokehouse” inspired gyros sandwich. For a Mediterranean twist on an old school Philadelphia favorite, try grilling onions and bell peppers alongside the KronoBROIL® slices and then topping it with melted cheese to create a delicious cheesesteak.

Still not “outside the box” enough for you?! Start with quick-pickling your favorite root vegetables like carrots, onions and daikon radishes. Warm pita piled high with KronoBROIL® slices, topped with the shredded veggies, fresh cilantro and sliced jalapeno, then finished with sriracha mayo. Now that’s what I call “Kronospired” BAHN MI!

KronoBROIL® Plus+ offers a more intense flavor profile whereby we’ve doubled the spice blend without adding any additional sodium content. These gyros slices work great when paired with other strong, competing flavors such as the toppings on a cheeseburger (see image at top of the page). Use the KronoBROIL® Plus+ slices in place of bacon strips for the ultimate cheeseburger in paradise! Loaded cheese fries are another great vehicle to showcase our delicious gyros slices. I like to start with curly-Q style fries, which are then topped with hot nacho cheese, chopped KronoBROIL® Plus+ gyros slices, diced tomatoes, chopped scallions and creamy tzatziki sauce.

    Hi! I work for a school district in Texas and I was wondering if any of your Gyro Meat is CN labeled? I noticed that Labatt Food Service carries your Beef & Lamb Gyro Slices. They are our current distributor.

    Hi, Chef Nick. We are excited to add the new KronoBroil to our menu. We already use the regular slices for our gyros but will start using the new which has a richer taste profile. We have 4 total new dishes we are working on but need help on one. We want to add Greek Bennys, but are stumped as to what kind of sauce to use, our classic Hollandaise (is there something we can add to it) or something brand new. Pretty sure our tzatziki sauce would not work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

      Thanks so much for your comments, and especially for your interest in KronoBROIL™. It’s exciting to hear how our revolutionary new gyros product is reshaping menus everywhere!

      I recently served Mediterranean-inspired benedicts at a breakfast function for our Board of Directors, and would love to share a recipe idea with you. I used buttermilk biscuits in place of English muffins, but either would work well for your application. Start by chopping KronoBROIL™ gyros slices into a fine dice. Sauté the diced gyro meat in butter, along with sweet yellow onion and fresh garlic. Next incorporate AP flour and cook for 3 to 5 minutes to make a blonde roux. Finally, whisk in warm whole milk and cook until thick and bubbly. Finish the sauce with cracked black pepper and your favorite hot sauce – this is my twist on a traditional southern sausage gravy! Top your English Muffin (or biscuits) with grilled KronoBROIL gyros meat, a poached egg and the gyros gravy. Garnish with snipped chives for service. I will email you a picture of the dish I served using this recipe.
