NRA 2017 Highlights

The 2017 National Restaurant Association show is behind us, and we couldn’t be happier about the continued excitement around KronoBROIL® Gyros Slices and its myriad of creative menu applications. It was KronoBROIL®’s BOLD new flavor that initially drew in long lines to our booth; but its ease-of-use and remarkable versatility really resonated with the patrons, and generated a noteworthy buzz throughout the venue. So much so, that the National Restaurant News named Gyros and Doner as one of the nine top food and beverage trends at the show, specifically calling out our hot KronoBROIL® cheese dip.

The cheese dip was indeed a huge hit and we used the platform to show that when you add KronoBROIL® to your menu, you get much more than “just” traditional gyros sandwiches. By being creative and cross-utilizing our cone carved gyros slices with other ingredients commonly found in your pantry, you can serve up delicious new concepts that address every daypart or dining occasion. For the dip, we combine chopped KronoBROIL® gyros slices with cream cheese, Greek yogurt, Monterey Jack cheese, diced red onions, roasted red peppers, feta cheese and chopped parsley. We then bake this mixture until the cheese is browned and bubbly, then it’s topped with diced tomatoes and scallions for service. Another impactful way to demonstrate the uniqueness and versatility of KronoBROIL® flame cooked gyros slices is to blur ethnic lines. By combining authentic gyros with other ingredients not commonly associated with Greek cuisine, we were able to tantalize the NRA show’s most discerning palates. This disruptive approach to menu development is a perfect example of how a few “core” ingredients can be combined in a creative way to stimulate your guests’ sense of culinary adventure.   Our southwest-style gyros sliders bridge ethnic flavor trends by topping our 4″ pita with hot gyros slices, a chunky salsa made from black beans, sweet corn, diced red onions, red bell peppers, fresh jalapenos, chopped cilantro and lime juice. And then we finish off this petite, but intense flavor-bomb with a creamy sauce made by combining Kronos White Satin™ with chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, fresh garlic and lime juice.
